About

Hi. I'm A.J.
Very few people actually call me that, though. It's always 'Adrian' these days.
I am 41 years old. From my cozy corner desk in Australia, I write about tokusatsu, comics, teaching and linguistics, and the intersection of same.
From 2020-2025 I was a primary school teacher, but have now shifted to the world of secondary school, teaching English, Humanities and Maths.
I started making websites -- including this website -- in 1997. I continued 'HTMLing' until around 2004, when corporate websites and social media became overwhelming. The internet stopped being about people and their contributions, and more about corporations, their silos, their networks and their guidelines.
Tools are meant to support humans and their objectives. The tools should not dictate what we can or should do. I am now a strong proponent of the IndieWeb.
This is also strongly reflected in my teaching.
By restoring my website bit-by-bit, and occasionally adding more, I am hoping to contribute a little agency to the Internet. I hope others will follow my lead.
You are always welcome to email me. I love receiving emails.
